Tallahassee Police Department Now Accepting Applications for Fall Citizens Police Academy
August 15, 2025
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is now accepting applications for the 82nd session of its Citizens Police Academy (CPA), scheduled for September 16 – November 17, 2025.
Launched in 1994, the Citizens Police Academy is an eight-week interactive program designed to give participants an inside look at the operations, responsibilities, and decision-making processes of TPD officers. The academy blends classroom learning with hands-on experiences, offering a deeper understanding of law enforcement and the vital role it plays in keeping the community safe.
Participants will learn about specialized topics and units, including:
- Traffic Unit
- Patrol
- Response to Resistance
- Criminal investigations and crime lab work
- Demonstrations by the TAC Team and K-9 Unit
"The Citizens Police Academy is one of our most popular community engagement programs because it builds understanding, trust, and strong partnerships," said Chief Lawrence Revell. "It's an opportunity to see firsthand the challenges and rewards of police work."
Seats are limited; those interested are encouraged to apply early. Classes are held twice a year, in the spring and fall.
